So two weeks ago our X5 needed a front brake job. So it went to Knauz BMW in lake bluff (chicago). Got the brake job done under extended Maintence warranty and sway bar link was replaced under WarrantyDirect. Fine.
I drove it, and the brake pedal felt mushy. Stayed that way. They need to rebleed probably I thought, no big deal. I called in and made an appointment with the original SA. He said it could be air in line, but emphasized that it could be a leak, ie. master cylinder etc, several times. Seemed wierd, took it in today anyway. Mind you, it was perfectly fine before the brake job in terms of pedal firmness.
Took it in today, the guy calls and says it's the master cylinder

. He also says WarrantyDirect covered it. Again wtf. The aftermarket warranties never cover brake components. I don't know how he got them to cover it. It's gonna cost $600+.
I'm glad that we don't have a deductible. The difference between a $100 deductible and $0 deductible was only $300. We're already at the third or fourth job, so we'v easily already covered that extra money spent for not havinga deductible. Between the cam sensors, sway bar link and this job, we've already gotten more than $1000 covered under the warranty with 5.5yr/40k more to go on it.
Bottom line is, I think this dealer is calling "failied" parts out of no where. Also, WarrantyDirect is seeming to be a good purchase more and more (knockin on wood).
Sorry for the long story.
