this may be a silly question

but how do i lift both windshield wipers in the front. maybe i'm missing something in the manual? but please help. when they're in the normal position only one of them could lift while the other is blocked by the hood. thanks!

Nope. You need to start the swipe and then cut off power midway....

Like chefwong said, turn the car on, turn on the wipers, then while the wipers are straight up, turn the car off. Voila, the wipers are up.

what they said.

As for "silly" or "dumb" questions..., the ONLY dumb question is the one that IS NOT ASKED! sure, you may catch some flak from some, but most of us here know that's exactly the way we started out, and are more than willing to help the next guy.

What is dumb is that BMW actually designed are car on which you cannot lift the windcreen wipers without a rigmarol. Out here, in Africa, you still get your windscreen washed by the garage attendent whenever you fill up, and I always have to leap out and stop them from trying to force the one wiper up. I also don't particularly like having to do a half wipe on a dirty dry and dusty windcreen.

You would think some sort of complicated gizmo that automatically relocates the wiperblade and then lifts them up for you when it dedects that you want to wash the windcreen would be more BMW's style!
