Motorized steering wheel adjustment dead??

I have a 2003 4.6is and it has the motorized steering wheels adjustment. Recently it has stopped working. It first went through a state where it would move and little then stop with each move of the control. this happened both on the tilt and the telescoping feature. At the point the wheel adjustment stopped working the seat stopped working. Now the seat works again and the steering adjustment is still dead. The dealership said they needed to be replaced along with the steering shaft and a bunch of other things for a ridiculous amount of money. I talked to a private shop that quoted me for the two motors but said it was funny that both motors died at the same time. I checked the fuse and its fine. Anyone have this problem before? Could it be the control? I am trying to get this right because I am going to be selling it soon and I want it perfect. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've never heard of this problem before, did you buy the car new or preowned? I'm assuming the later, if the motors are burnt out it would seem you have no choice but to replace them. Try taking it into a anther shop and see what they say.

Do a search on 'power seat' and look at the results.

This thread *might* help you:
