V1 hardwire & hidden display

As I drove I wanted it in my line of sight... . I went with mounting it on top of the dash, driver's side, where the windshield meets up with the A-pillar. I'll post a pic when I get home but I think this is a pretty common location. The dash is pretty deep on the x5 and you can easily run the cable under the a-pillar/headcurtain airbag cover/liner...

Mine is inside the rear center headrest. Display is on the Nav via a stealth-1. Totally concealed.

This is in an E70 but I have experimented with many positions. My current favorite is above the ash-tray. I've attached a (poor quality) pic. Just by glancing down, when I hear a beep, I can see what's going on. I have a straight line of sight just below my right arm.

I've also attached a pic of where the V1 is attached ABOVE the rear view mirror. This position works REALLY well on the E70 as it has perfect front "reception" and rear is not compromised at all -- it has a clear shot of the rear window and I have tested it many times with cops behind me... (Note, I'm not saying that they were chasing me )

that actually looks pretty good. I'm thinking i can make it integrated well into the ashtray. I will definitely put the V1 above the mirror like you did. Great job

If you're gonna put the V1 up next to the mirror, then what's the point of putting the remote display in the ashtray area? The V1 is still clearly visible in that location and all you're doing is just moving the display from the "line-of-sight" to some other harder to see location, which, IMHO doesn't buy you much stealth. I have my V1 mounted in that same location (without using a remote display) for over 5 years now and it's barely noticeable for the passerby. I don't even get a look by cops, which means it's already pretty stealthy even with the display turned on.
