SES light again
Once again, the engine runs very well at any speed except idle. If I let it idling, it ends to, stall. If I keep the engine speed above 1500 rpm, no problem and it even clears the idle for some minutes until it becomes rough again. Even if I had bad experiences with them in the past, I decided to go to the unique BMW dealer to get a diagnose with the right tool and wonder what, they can't check the vehicle with their software before.......October 27!!! So, what do you (experts) think? Does the O2 sensors problem due to the sensors themselves or something else? Thanks, |

Sound like lazy idle control valve or bad idle control valve

Yes, this is a possibility. Obviously I have to replace it and while I am at it, also the 02 sensors. BTW, what tool is the most useful to remove the 02 sensors on this 3,0I engine? Not a lot of place to work between the engine and the A/C hoses...

sounds like the intake air boot elbow is torn where the idle air valve is.

Difficult to see without removing the ICV but the boot seems in good state. You right though, another thing to replace while I'm at it.

See with your hands. Put your hand in there and feel if the boot is torn.

I had the exact same problem earlier this year. Had to put the vehicle in Neutral and goose the throttle when coming to a stoplight. Multiple error messages would come up in the cluster that would disappear after restarting.
I replaced the ICV and it ran like a champ afterwards. Pretty easy install - maybe 15-20 minutes. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...ode-p0505.html |
