Why does time display on dash and 3 dings when I start my X5?

Just picked up a 2005 4.8is. Not sure why, but when I start the X5 the time displays on the dash accompanied by a ding sound. Anyone know how I can stop this?

It might be the alarm setting that is a feature of the on-board information system. Try going into the setting mode and see if this has been set. The feature is supposed to alert you after you have been driving for a pre-determined period of time.

I have looked at the settings. I can't seem to find any timers or alarms that are on. Anyone else have a suggestion? This happens as soon as I turn the key to position one. The time displays on the dash accompanied by 3 dings.

I have memo set to off and it is still happening. Is there another step besides just having it off?

does it ding 3 times when you turn your key to start a car?
If it does- its a seat belt reminder... just put your seat belt before starting your car- and a ding dissappear

mine dings because I have LED license plate bulbs. It dings when I turn on the car with the lights on "Auto". Then when I turn it off it tells me what the ding is for. Try to see if yours says anything on the instrument cluster when you turn it off.
