01 X5 3.0ltr water dripping under car

Guys,

Just noticed something yesterday, reversed the car out of the garage and there was a small pool of water on the floor under where the engine bay was sitting. Its definitely water and not coolant which which was a relief to say the least. At first i thought it was from the air conditioning but i hadnt used this in the last few days and the water had gathered from sitting over night not straight after a drive.

Anyone have any ideas where it could be coming from?

Cheers,

Weasel will become famous soon enough
The washer pump motor is usually what leaks. No DIY with pics that I know of, but I didn't exactly search either. But the washer solvent bottle has one 10mm screw on top, remove it. Pull the reservoir up and check the pumps for leaks. If the water is leaking from the pump motor you will need new pump, but it could also possibly just be the plastic elbow. To replace the pump just unplug the wires from the pump(s). (if you have 2 pumps, the smaller one to the rear is for the windshield washers) Then pull the hose off of the pump nipple. pull the pump straight up/out. Pull out and replace the push in grommet, insert the new pump, and the rest should be self explanatory.

All in all it is one of the easiest DIY jobs on the X5.

I had a thread over the winter on here. That cheap white plastic connector was the issue. Mine leaked were the black tap (unlock it) is mounted to the white connection. I even bought a new one and it still leaked. I ended up taking off the white connector (in pic) and just connecting the rubber hose to the washer fluid tank (old fashion way...lol). I used the hose clap and just tightened on the pump. Never had in issue since.

On the x5 the climent control automaticlly turns on and if it is hot out (high hum.) it could cause some water to drip too. It was really hot one day (high hum.) and i stated my x5 up and had it sit a couple of mins in the garage (plug'n my ipod in) and had the climent control down to 68 deg w/out ac and it caused a little water to drip. I dont have it on that much (like windows open) and wish bmw would have made a on/off switch!

edit: LOL...that is a picture of my washer fluid tank...lol I put the tape on the tank to see if i was lossing fluid. Made me scared when i 1st saw the leak, same color as the coolant! I put some paper towel under the connection over night to find the leak too. I would just take that white connection off and save some money!
