Talking X5 Crash Test

This is the first time I have ever seen the movie of the much raved about crash test. It is simply unbelievable how you can see everything crumple in the front, but there is NO apparent damage behind the front quarter panel. I remember this was the case with pepatrick's 4.4i as well.

ps, the content in this link is put together really nicely.

Watching this makes me feel good .

Awesome. That exact X5 is in the museum where you can see with your own eyes what is damaged and what is not. It will make you feel really good to see how that car does in a front crash. Great engineering!

Yes...I got to see that first hand. Based on where I hit and ended up...it was determined that I was still going about 45 mph at impact. My X5 didnt suffer as much damage as the video because it hit something else that gave in, but the end result was the same. There was no damage from the front doors back. It is one of the main reasons I purchased another X5...

I hit a Dodge Ram that pulled out in front of me. It spun it 180 degrees and flipped on its side.

Two teenage girls were killed in the Explorer that is in the background. The girl driving Explorer was my wifes bosses neice. There were some pretty messed up vehicles on the lot that day. I hated to bring my kids up there, but they learned a heck of a lesson...about how easily life can be taken away..

Phil, I did not know that 2 teenagers had died in this crash. So sade. The X5 may have saved your life on this particular day. I agree with you, this was a tough lesson for your kids but may be a lesson which will save their life one day

I don't think he meant that two teenagers were killed in HIS accident. I think what he meant was there was an explorer there at the yard where the took his X5 that had been involved in a separate accident where two kids were killed. Right...?
