It's my belief from past experience owning an RX-7 Twin Turbo that the Bosch plugs w/ multi-tips were mostly designed for rotary motors due to how fast the rotary can rev. It needed multiple points for the spark to be able to reach so it could ensure that the revs didn't blow out the spark.
The M62TU is by no means an 11k rpms revving monster, so I'd personally pass on the Bosch's. NGK Iridiums all day long, 50-100k intervals...the world is a happier place

Good info in this thread. Will keep that in mind for upcoming spark plug change. (is it at 60k miles? if so, I am almost there.)

![]() My guess is that the 4417's run slightly hotter. In any case, NGK BKR6EQUP here.

I'm running the NGK Iridiums as well. I swapped out the OE BOSCH @ 88K miles.

Depends on the model year and month production of your X. Click the link I provided and put in your personal info. It will give you the number for the Bosch and NGK plugs that BMW recommends.

NGK Iridium IX's can be had for less and perform better than, if not the same as, the Platinum OEM plugs.
NGK Iridiums Here as well. |

The plus side to Platinum is that they don't erode as fast, satisfying the dealer service intervals. The down side is they don't transmit as hot a spark as copper or iridium. In a non-performance motor, I'd choose copper. In our motors, definitely Iridium.
