Check out this deal on a 4.6is

2003 BMW X5 4.6is (RARE)

Only thing i'm worried about is the mileage, that's 195K KM's in Canadian terms!!!

I'm currently at 130K KM's myself... what do you guys think?

seems like an average price given the mileage, but one thing is sure---that isn't Orient Blue.

No, and that color is Estoril. That's the first red flag I saw.

The fact that he says "I can no longer provide the care needed to continue ownership" tells me there are likely some issues you will need to address as soon as you get it, especially if you want this vehicle to last.

Really you should consider any 4.6is a 20k vehicle, regardless of mileage you will be in it for at least that much if you want it in good working condition.

I am in the market for a 4.6iS, but with all the tranny problems I am reading about, high milers are kinda scaring me.
I am stuck between a high miler that is much cheaper but then i can buy aftermarket warranty, or a more expensive low miler, but no warranty with hopefully less chance to have major issues.
Sure looks nice though.

you are better off spending the extra $$ on a CPO 4.8is, in the long run it will pay off. My father just took in his 4.6is for service at the dealership..came out $4000 later.

just pay the extra 5-6K for a CPOd car and you'll make it back within 2 visits to the dealership

or.. a 2004 4.4 on ebay with all the 4.8is body kit (really nice)

Personally, not super crazy about the facelifted X5's. There is something about their front. They are also out of my budget by a lot.
I have a great indy, having said that, Im going to get one with as low miles as possible.

Ill be honest with you guys, I have my X at 118,646K right now. Shes a 2001 4.4i and Yes it does indeed have hard down shifts (Issues with the transmission) I will be getting the transmission rebuilt gd willing soon, I have her in MINT condition interior and body. for an 01 i honestly think my X5 is in the best shape and condition it can be. Yes its true at around 100K + the tranys to fail but if you have the after market warranty that will take care of that issue for you. X5s can last a life time if they are maintained properly though.
