window regulator

Hey new too the forum and I have been hit by the most common failures of the X5-- radiator, expansion tank and yesterday the window regulator. I found it kind of odd that bmw doesnt sale the sliding plastic piece on the regulator. This seems to be the failure point. Any who to make a long story short I paid $100 dollars for a regulator and all is fixed now. I went to ebay and these guys out of Turkey sale the slides and cables for the front and rear regulators for around $20 US anyone tried these? If not it might be a good option for the failing regulator.

IMO by far the best option for a broken window reg. is this Xoutpost.com - View Single Post - Window Regulator DIY-Rx....... if you have worked with a screwdriver and pliers before.

I may be jinxing myself, but I've found lowering all the windows (once a week or more often) minimizes the frequency of window regulator failure. I also get less wind buffeting if all the windows are open vs just the front two. 4 yrs 3 months since my only failure, which happened just after p/u in July,2005 (12/00 build date)

I HATE the buffeting that the X5, so I at least crack the backwindows an inch or so, otherwise I just drop them all.

Where in ID are you from X5Flyboy? Love your quote btw...I'm refraining naming names.

I spend the summers in Idaho Falls (Ammon, actually) to escape the heat & humidity of Charleston, SC (Goose Creek, actually)

The BTO one?
