HID conversion help needed

I bought a H7 HID kit for facelift x5. no OBC fault/error prompt, but can't figure out how to hold the light bulbs. original halogen light bulb is held by a metal clip (on the socket). anybody could light me up to solve it?

Pics of behind the headlight and confirming that you actually use H7 will make things a lot easier.

can't take a picture of the back of the headlight at the moment. here is a picture of the metal clip and H7 HID light bulb. the red lines indicate the points that hold some points in the back of the projector lenses. if the black part of the HID light bulb could fit in the empty square of the metal clip, it would be no problem to hold the lights perfectly.

To be honest, that doesn't look familiar to me, so hopefully some other people will chime in. Here's your free bump

i suppose the metal clip is for the facelift x5, on the low beam headlight socket, the points indicated in red lines click in the back of the projector lens.

Got your PM (i am not coming here very often and sorry for delay). Picture above indicated that right bulb is halo not xenon bulb. H7 xenon bulb plastic is thick, you and it gives you a difficult time plug it into original H7 metal clip.
Remove xenon bulb thick plastic, use sandpaper and sand it until you see it fit into your original metal clip. I have done this and it giave me tought time too.

thanks a lot for the info. it is a special hid conversion kit, a hid bulb, not halo. sanding the plastic maybe easier, than what i have done, made a pair home-made bulb holder clip from cup mat, seems working well so far.

personal experience, don't buy an e39 holder some retailers said they are for facelift x5. they are not, at least in my case.

Bulb that pictured above looks like halo to me. Anyway, don't homemade metal clip, it won't hold your HIB bulbs tightly - just thin the plastic and it's good to go.
