So here are my 2 options: 1) eBay Motors: MTEC XENON D2S D2R HID BULBS 4500K 6000K 8000K (item 120409007574 end time Apr-26-09 20:32:16 PDT) 2) eBay Motors: XENON HID D2S, 4300k, 6000k & 8000k REPLACEMENT BULBS (item 300308952494 end time May-19-09 00:49:23 PDT) Price difference is huge,so I don't want to overpay for same thing :-) So which one should I go with? Also does 6000k looks blue-ish,as I want people see blue light from distance, not stock white shit :-( |

the stock color is not white..
and 6000k will have a hint of blue. if you go to 8000k you will get alot more blue but in my opinion it doesn't suit an X. you can get some GP Thunder (i think thats the brand) D2S bulbs from modbargains.com for about $60.

wouldnt you want to stick with the 4300K bulbs as this is the temperature at which light output is maximized?

nope. i want blue-ish a bit color,as white is outdate. plus 6000k and 4300k not a big difference in light output

mTX5 did you change HID ballasts for the low-beam or just upgraded the lamp for 6000k?

sobi6111, i changed the ballasts too because i changed my headlights to aftermarket. I no longer use D2S.. i use H7.
also there IS a difference in light output from 4300k to 6000k. i think 5000k is a good compromise, but they can be difficult to find. personally i am fine with 6000k. i am able to drive around with just foglights and angel eyes (fogs are 6000k) unless i'm on an un-lit road (not common around here) in which i add the lowbeams and problem solved.

Dont buy either of those bulbs, do plenty of research before hand as well.
6000K is white with a blue hue. 8000K is much more blue then 6000K, however the visibility is very poor. 6000K is the highest color temperature I would recommend. 4300K is not outdated silly, it comes standard on all cars that come xenon equipped from the factory. Even with 6000K, there is about 25% loss in intensity, something to consider... If anyone needs help finding a quality inexpensive set of xenon bulbs, please PM me and let me know. |
