This morning I came across a problem with the Vreds. I caught a nail pretty close to the sidewall. My local tire shop said they cannot repair it because of that. These tires are not available locally. So, now I have to order them and wait a week or so for the replacement to be delivered and I need my X5 badly these days...

Let me correct myself though. This is not a problem with the Vreds but rather with their distribution network. If I had a local store that carried them, I would be rolling on a new one by the end of the day.

ICC in Grapevine sells them. Not sure how long it takes them to get, but they have the Hunter mounting equipment as well. I'm trying to decide between these and the Conti DWSs (@Discount Tire). Performance vs. all-weather/wear. Tires/mounting/balancing for either set was quoted at just under $1200. I have enjoyed the "stick" of the Diamaris (and presumably the Vreds), but part of me would like a tire that will last >1 year. This winter's snow storms here haven't helped me either.

$1200 is steep, in my opinion. I got my Vreds (214-style wheels) for $800 or so. Shipping included. I spent another $80 to have them installed and balanced. So, I fit in $900 total.

Vreds have good traction in dry and wet. They are not suitable for driving on snow but in this blizzard that we had a couple of weeks ago, it felt ok. I took a "practice lap" by myself in the car to see how it feels, how it steers, and how it brakes. This helped to revive some of the old memories of driving in Russian winter I was comfortable taking my family on-board after the practice lap.

I found my set for 20's staggered from an ebay store for 760 shipped from so cal to nor cal. Paypal verified.150 mounted at the dealer with hunter equipment. Had them on for about 3000 miles and i think they are great. Good wet traction, great dry traction. One trip to tahoe with them and just be aware of the snow. Hope to get at least 30,000 miles til the next set. My last set of diamaris were great too just a little too pricey.

I think we got it both at the same place. CLEANING OUT THE GARAGE is where I got it from. Since they're local in Canoga Park, I went to pick up the whole set from them.

Still happy with them so far after 4 months in.

I wouldn't count on getting 30,000 miles with a 4.8is. These tires look great and stick like mad, but they are soft. I have about 10,000 and I am worn on the inner edge. I am lowered and drive aggressive, that will short the life as well.

Yeah, not liking their price for the tires. Definitely found worse prices, but did find them for much less incl shipping. I guess I'll have to see if they will match the price or mount ones I order elsewhere (really want to see if the Hunter road force is worth it.)
