I've gotten several rock chips on the outer surround part but the inner slats have been good. I have 49K mostly freeway miles on my X5 too. If I recall correctly, you only painted the chrome part, right? I did both parts of the grilles. Anyway, I guess I have a unique look now.

Kevin, just thought I would let you know that I just pulled out my painted kidney grills and installed a new set of titanium grills. The old ones were getting a little road rash, and I was ready for a fresh new look.
