air con not very cold

Hi my 2nd hand 4.4i x5 air con doesn't really get cold even when running for 30 minutes with MAX setting on? Does any one know how cold is the air-con supposed to be? Because in the Australian summer I am suffering...is it made for cooler conditions like in North America

Did you turn the dial all the way to the blue in the center vent?

The AC on my X5 is one of the coldest ever! Its super fast getting to a selected temperature.I have it on Auto all the time.
Have the AC system pressure tested! You may have a small leak!
You may also need to charge it up...

Not sure what the temp is supposed to be. If you are sure that all of the climate control settings are in the correct position, try putting in a new micro-filter before you do anything else. Unless you know it has been changed recently, of course. As others have said, you may haev a leak or need a recharge, but the filter can hamper performance of the system when clogged. It can be an overlooked item that is cheap and easy to replace.

Hey Thanks for the information everybody. I'm pretty sure I have all the correct settings going including the centre dial between the fans set to blue/cold. I'm due for a service sometime soon so will get it checked out.
cheers

+1 on being the coldest ever and
+1 on super fast getting to correct temp and
+1 on having mine set on Auto.

Sorry to hear your a/con is not working right julezw. Better hurry and get it fixed, it's starting to get warm down your way.

Hey julezw, I'm a Melbourne based X5 guy with what sounds like exactly the same issue. Where are you getting your X5 serviced? More specifically who do you recommend to fix your aircon?

Check whether your aux fan is working. When it breaks there is no light, no warning. Main sign of failure is weak AC (and sometimes engine overtemp if it is really hot out). With your car idling, put the AC on max and wait a minute, then look at the aux fan in the front of the radiator. It should be spinning.
