New to the board with 06 X5 44i
Have been reading the information on the board for the past few weeks. Very informative, with some bright minds and load of information.
I have a question about my car. After it was driven for a while or when getting of the highway and stopping. (car is still in "D" ) the car would very lightly shake (non-stop hardly noticeable shaking). I took it to the dealer they did something it is better, but the car still shakes under the same circumstances, but now it does it for a brief period of time - 5 to 15 sec. Then goes to normal. What could it be and should I be concerned? It is a cpo and I still have a month of factory b2b warranty before cpo kicks in. Would appreciate your input. |

my best guess:
The cars have an adaptive transmission--so when on the highway the gears are driven out longer and the transmission adapts to the present circumstances (especially after being driven for a while) It is probably the car not downshifting as much as it would normally when adapted to a more "stop-go" environment. thats my best guess. dont quote me because i'm no expert. but that could def be a possibility

Well is it when you press the brakes? because that could be warped rotors or a tire balance problem..
I have an 04 4.4i (we have the same transmission) i notice that when i come to stop after a long drive, it takes the transmission a little longer than i would like to downshift into first. First things first, check your tire pressure and alignment, since you have a decently new X i wouldnt count on wear on the ball joints, but hey anything is possible.

Nope. When driving, accelerating and braking it is behaving perfectly and all that shaking nonexistent.
After picking the car up from the dealer, it can start shaking for 5-10 sec already after a stop then go to normal. May be I am paying to much attention to it and it is all normal, but you know since it was shaking non-stop at times before the dealer I am wondering what is normal and what is not. |

I had similar problem with my e39, dealer replaced idle control valve. I kept on watching the tach when coming to stop but never did see rpm drop below 550 at idle. Had 2 trips to dealer before they replaced it. |

Naz24 I didn't pay much attention to rpms because they didn't seem to be out of the ordinary. I have 48k miles on the car.
switchman I will ask the dealer about that. |

..you know what? i actually noticed that when i first bought my car a year ago. hmm either i have gotten used to it or it went away.
what is your RPM at when you are at a stop, if it is below 600 (i think thats normal?--someone correct me if i'm wrong) then you might have an idling problem. How many miles do you have on your X?
