Center Console Creak

Hi all, tried various searches to no avail. Have had my '06 4.4 for about a month now and love it. Except for the center console creaking when I put my elbow on it. This isn't a faint creak, but quite audible and extremely annoying. It sounds like the noise is coming from the lid that pops up when the button is pushed, and not from the lower larger compartment. Any help for some sort of remedy would be great.

My 05 does the same thing, and I simply don't put any weight on my elbow on it. Frankly, it is not good for your elbow anyway (learned from the ergonomics lady at work... you shouldn't be putting too much weight - as in leaning on - your elbow for extended periods of time.)

I sure hope somebody comes up with a good remedy for this. Mine is doing the exact same thing and driving me nuts!

lol... this reminds of the guy that went to the doctor and says it hurts when I lift my arm, and the doctor responds by saying don't lift your arm.

I NEED to rest my elbow when I drive...most comfortable position, especially when the center console is shifted forward. awwww

Have any of you removed and / or tightend the console down to see if that helps the issue?

Perhaps from excessive previous pressure, the console is now fatigued and that's just the way it will be unless replaced.

I can't stand these types of isses. They make me crazy!

lol... I know... not much help with 'fixing' the issue... I am just pointing out the 'warning feature' that BMW ergonomics engineers implemented (at zero cost to us, mind you)... to help us all live a happier better life.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Maybe some thin strips of felt tape on the contact points? I've heard a decent amount of customers vehicles make this noise, on all types of BMWs... thankfully My truck isn't doing this yet, but when it does I have a pile of felt tape waiting for it. (and any other weird noises that appear)
