Brake fluid change light reset

I've got an Australian delivered E53 3.0d

The "brake fluid change" symbol (Clock in a square symbol) has come on as its 2 years since the last time it was changed. I'm going to change the fluid myself but cannot find any descriptions how to reset the "brake fluid change" light.

I searched and all the posts about this never came to any certain conclusion.

The light only comes on for the first few seconds after starting the car. I just want to reset it so its in sync with the actual fluid change.

Not a common question since the light isn't enabled on US vehicles. This link shows how to reset the other service interval lights; I would scroll through the menu options to see if you have an option for the brake fluid.

Finally got around to changing the brake fluid at my cars next service.

I followed the instructions in the link above.

I held the trip meter button when I turned on the ignition, I then got a service indicator with the number of litres left till the next service. I then quickly pressed the reset button and the next display had the number of days (negative) since the brake fluid warning light came on.

I then held the button till the word reset flashed on the same info, then pressed it again which confirmed the reset and set the warning back to 730 ( or similar) days.

Brake fluid change indicator has now disappeared.

This worked great for me, I found it all a bit daunting to be honest cause I thought it would be a simple "reset brake fluid timer" type display but instead it was just numbers and letters all the way, the only indicater was the negative number displayed after selecting the option was approxamatly the time I got the warning lamp.

I got the distinct impression I could only reset things with a negative value anyway cause there was no option that I saw for oil change or service intervals.

Indy forgot to reset it and it wasn't worth the drive down there.

Big thank you to JBL for the Guide and chris_barry for the breakdown.
