Unhappy CV Joint Shaft Installation - Need Help

I am replacing the complete shafts on my 01 X5 4.4.
Shafts from local AA store $150 brand new with no core return. Drop-shipped from SC manufacturer.

I am doing the right side and everything went fine with the removal.
I am installing the new shaft and Bentley manual(page 311-3) says >>Push inner CV joint shaft into differential or bearing pedestal flange until locking circlip locks into place.<<
I am doing this and it will not go in. I have made sure that it is the correct shaft. Can I use a BFH? Is there an easier way of pushing it in?

I read through it before/after starting the job.
Doesn't have the info I'm looking for.
I searched the forum for "cv", "cv joint", "shaft" before posting my question.
I am off to an BMW indy that quoted to press out old shafts($20) and will seek advice there.
Will post update.

they can ask whatever they want. that doesn't mean that you have to pay
this guy ships worldwide from Connecticut. send him an email and ask about shipping in Norway. it cannot be more than $100.
btw: the price is for both front axles

first of all they have sold over 40000 parts on Ebay (take a look at company's feedback!), second of all this is the going price for non-oem axle. nothing unusual.

Price for non OEM(GSP)at my local Advanced Auto store is 69.95 each.
Almost $50 cheaper.

$100 saved towards that skidplate

You really have to "convince" the half shaft it wants to stay there. With mine I lined it up with the splines engaged pulled it back about two inches and leaned into it. It popped right in place.
