Totally unable to get in my car

We have had our 2001 X5 4.4i for about 3 years and have had nothing but problems but today tops it. Battery dead, car locked and we can't get in. The drivers door doesn't have a way to use the key (I know what you are thinking but we bought it this way and didn't realize it must have been done aftermarket). We can't get into the car to jump it because we can unlock the car...

Other than breaking a window....any ideas?

You can apply power to the electrical system by connecting a 12v source to the starter on the bottom of the engine. Then you can unlock the car with your remote and replace the battery. More details are available if you decide to go this route.

I thought the under side of the car was a sealed unit so we would not be able to access the starter.... is this not the case?

There is space to get to the front terminal on the starter, although it is a tight space in there. Apply 12v(+) from another battery, etc. to the front (+) terminal on the starter and apply your neg(-) to the frame.
