Why not pop out that aftermaket key hole cover and open the door by the key.

No it is not dead sealed unit..... It just snaped in and maybe sealed with some silicone.
Using the flat head scew driver and pop out that cover |

break it off with a hammer. and then turn the lock mechanism mechanically.

You can apply power to the electrical system by connecting a 12v source to the starter on the bottom of the engine. Then you can unlock the car with your remote and replace the battery. More details are available if you decide to go this route.

I researched and they do sell replacement exterior door handles without a key hole...thanks for the help

I thought the under side of the car was a sealed unit so we would not be able to access the starter.... is this not the case?

There is space to get to the front terminal on the starter, although it is a tight space in there. Apply 12v(+) from another battery, etc. to the front (+) terminal on the starter and apply your neg(-) to the frame.
