Any idea what this cable is near the dipstick

I just noticed a cable or a small pipe which goes nowhere, it is kinda attached to the dipstick, any idea what it is? does it need to be connected somewhere.

pretty sure they are just the breather hose from the trans or diff , there is a topic on this somewhere on here
