No light in trunk on 04 x5 Facelift?

The two lights on trunk hatch don't work, all other interior lights work fine. I have checked the fuses, wiring and bulbs. But no luck! Anyone had the same issue? These are supposed to light up when opening trunk etc.

this is a 2004 E53 facelift 3,0DA.

No issue at all with my trunk lights.

How are you checking the lights for functionality? If the bulb holders are getting power when the hatch is opened, then fuses and wiring can be considered good. That leaves only the bulbs to be the culprit. If you put in new bulbs, they dont work, and the bulb is receiving power, try closing the trunk and opening it again to reset the trigger.

You will have 12v or same voltage as the battery is registering on all components in the car.If you dont have 12V ,then power is not reaching the bulbs!Elementary stuff....
I believe that what makes the tail light come on ,is a microswitch in the actual lock.Check this and also the voltage thats reaching the bulbs. If no voltage ,then you have a faulty switch or a cut wire somewhere.

With key in ignition lock do you get a error message on your OBC?Like tailgate opened? This would be a start ....Could be that the micro switch failed or the actuator shaft is broken, it won't move correctly and may well be telling the computer that the boot is open.

All your interior lights turn on when you open the trunk or unlock the door locks via your keyfob.

0.8v would tell me either you have a blown fuse or some sort of wiring issue...or maybe an error caused by test equipment or procedure.

Yes, i get the tailgate message. bootlid open. There are not 12V on the connections for light. The bootlid is softclose, this works ok.
