Hazard Lights acting crazy

I have a 4.4 X5 and this morning when I started my car and drove off the car ran perfect all electrical worked just fine except for my hazard lights were on. The strange thing is the hazards weren't flashing inside. And the only way I noticed is because I like looking at my halo's in the reflection of other cars. This has happened before about 2 years ago. This is about the 3rd time it's happened and I never really looked into it because I always caught it quick, but this time I was driving for about 5 miles through the city and was completely embarrassed when I noticed it. The way I always correct the problem is by turning the car off, arming the alarm and disarming it again. Now, once the lights are flashing and the car is off and I arm the car, it doesn't make the alarm sound. And the lights remain flashing. Then when I disarm the car, I don't hear the alarm noise either, but the hazards do stop. And when I went to start my car, it didn't start up on the first time either. The engine just kept turning (something that has never happened before). But then everything worked and the car drove just fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Had sort of a similar problem last year where randomly the hazards began flashing (hazard light came on inside as well) and the interior lights came on. Almost as if the X was in a crash or something. Never found the problem and it only happened once.
