Door Handle: Stuck/Broke

It was the first time it was belowing freezing.

I went to open the outside driver side door and it wouldn't open. I thought it was because of the ice so I was pulling hard and I think I snapped something loose.
Crap. OK what part do I need to order?

I went to open the driver side door from the front passenger .. and guess what? STUCK TOO.

The door handle wasn't pulling up all the way. It is like stuck inside. Tried pouring hot water all over it but no go.

like Killcrap says, most likely door carrier.
item #15 on the picture, but when mine broke I was still able to open the driver door from the inside.

You may want to bring the car into the garage and let it warm up and open the door from the inside.
If you can't that could be trouble, search the forum I think someone in here had that problem (opening the door from outside/inside since the X5 can't be opened using slim-jim device).

hot water will only freeze. mine was frozen this morning and i cried for a bit. my salty tears fought through the cold and loosened up my door handle. in the future be gentle with the door handles. as i said mine was frozen this morning and it luckily opened and then i let it sit for a few minutes to warm up and it finally latched closed. if you have to park outside, like myself, dont hesitate to bang on the lock part to loosen up what may be frozen in there. also, your window trim could be letting water in. do not use any liquid lube. use graphite on a dry day, or use lock deicer this winter and in the spring graphite the snot out of it.

oh yea, and you def broke the carrier or one of the plastic pieces that hold the cables off part 2/3 but i would take a quick peak inside before you order anything. ensure that the plastic standoff are intact. if you handle returns to the normal position that probably means the carrier is fine and its something else. (it could have just been some ice breaking that you felt and nothing broke.)

yea, basically. but i think you can buy it in a poof can. not aerosol but a way to blow it in there. will not be effective if its at all wet in there. wait for a dry day and even wipe clean what you can. (air compressor possibly to blow out any dirt, but then you have to let dry again.)

p.s. the pinewood derby is awesome.

Yeah the door handle is now loose. some plastic piece snapped off and it isn't going back in... I pulled too hard.

Guess I have to order a carrier... blah
Hate this POS car. Last week a window regulator and this week this.

Piece 11 is loose. Does that come with the carrier?
