coiler is on a distinguished road
2002 wont start

My wifes 2002 X5 wont start just put a new battery in and ran for one day and then nothing. Just clicks put charger on it and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated as I am going out of town and she needs her wheels. Thanks

it may be a dumb question... but is the alternator the same as the starter?

If you just put a new battery in, I'd put money that it's just a poor connection at the bat. Check it.

not dumb at all, on some cars, the starter and alternator are one unit, its called an Integrated Starter Alternator, such are found on hybrid models. the x5 currently does not have this device.

The starter mechanically starts the vehicle (its job is completely done after this)

The alternator charges the battery and supplies power to the vehicle while the engine is on.

Well found out that park indicator led is staying on. I know I seen how to fix it on the forum somewhere.

that means absolutlely nothing on an x5. and also if your battery is weak, the car will not go to sleep. call it a double whammy.

Even if it is -30c. If the alt. is not working isn't there a light for that?
