Can you remove the X5 OEM Aerokit and return to stock ?

I like the 4.8 look without the aerokit and was wondering if you can remove the Aero kit or are the fender flares drilled to the sheet metal?
Thnx in advance for the information!
DJ

I didn't see any replies to this post and am wondering if it can be done. I am in the process of purchasing a Pre-Owned X5 that has the OEM Aerokit that was factory installed but I'd like to have it removed and instead get either a 4.6 or 4.8 kit. Please advise. Thanks...

According to Realoem.com, the equipment necessary to install the Aero kit doesnt include any rivetes or screws which would suggest that original fender flares had to be drilled!
My guess would be that the Aero kit fenders fit in place of the oem fenders and/or may be stuck on the bodywork with same sheet of 3M adhesive that Bmw use to fit the rear spoiler on an E39.

Of course the paint is going to be damaged - either by the adhesive, or by the difference in the UV rays striking the covered/uncovered body sections.

Is it worth the cost of respraying?
