I disagree, otherwise HP increases wouldn't be the name of the game each year a new model comes out. I have had to see the new X5 come out and be down on power compared to the previous model.

When I went w/ my friend to buy his (at the time) brand new 98 E36 M3, my calibrated butt dyno told me that he'd ran me down like a scalded ape compared to my 91 E34 M5. After about a month of ownership and lots of crap talk, we finally lined up on I5 @ 3am, stopped in the middle of an empty highway and went for it. My 340hp walked all over his ass like you wouldn't believe...there wasn't even a chance. I had him by like 60hp, I weighed more and was in a car w/ 140k miles at the time. Needless to say, once the E39 M5 came out, the M3 was traded in. 60 more hp than my E34 and the tables turned.

Feeling fast and being fast are two entirely different things, so that's why I disagree w/ your statement. $$Dinan$$'s increased butt dyno feeling means nothing when I've got you beat by another 60hp in a similar car using different mods and/or more horsepower...period.
