You can always just replace the high beam bulb with a xenon color matched bulb... Yes, it's still a halogen bulb, but it has a blue tint to it so that it'll match the xenons in then 5000k color:

eas - SuperWhite Xenon Match Halogen Bulb Set
eas - 714.369.8524 | eas - SuperWhite Xenon Match Halogen Bulb Set

This will be the easiest and cheapest route to go if that's what you want to set up.

Don't know what to do because the upgrade can be expensive for UHP LED.

Maybe settle with these and save a few hundred?
00 01 02 03 BMW X5 ANGEL *TRUE* XENON HID HEADLIGHT E53 on eBay.ca (item 170421980206 end time 18-Jan-10 16:20:57 EST)

Afterall the whole purpose of the headlight upgrade is for removing the orange corners. Will most ppl even notice the difference...I doubt it. But it does make a huge difference everytime. I am really happy with the red/clear led tail lights.

But when I see pics like these....what can I say? Loooks reallly good.

fishcake321's lights are also of the same quality as EAS and the other eBay seller, redcometm3. The only difference is the halogen angel eye setup, which will look more OEM compared to the UHP LED angel eye setup.

Here is a user that has the halogen angel eye setup using the same headlights as fishcake321's. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ere-we-go.html

The halogen setup looks good as well!! But the LEDs are the newest thing and the car will look newer as well i think.

I don't know it's really hard to say right now.

FYI everyone: fishcake and redcometm3 are pretty much the same company using different names/stores.

Couldn't agree with you more. The LED's will give your X5 a fresh new look that will separate it from the rest. LED's are also known to be more reliable in the long run, during cold weather, and you wont have to deal with the annoying ballasts that come on some CCFL Angel eye set ups.

Jurrian, I need you to help bring the cost down somewhere for me.

MINIz guy, you're right it does look more oem. I might just buy those...seems like the least headache and can save money at it. Those pics of Simons car look really good! Or purchase those tint bulbs for this.

If I go the LED route...then I'll probably end up purchasing 3 hid kits for it as well (adding the cost).

My car paint is topaz blue and I personally think they leds will look better on it. If I had silver/black/maroon I would have probably shot more for the oem look. Are there any pics of a topazblue X5 with the "oem" look headlights vs. these leds. Lights on??

The headlights we offer are already at a discounted rate, you're getting a bargain to begin with!

If there is anything else I can help you out with, just PM me directly.

As Jurrian stated earlier, we are already offering these at a substantial savings over normal price. While we can't compete against your most garage-based eBay dealers - they have no overhead and very few provide (if any at all) technical support. A worse case would be if they were lost or damaged in shipping.

While we can't be the cheapest in all cases, we offer the best value: which consists of price, customer service and product quality. eBay simply cannot compete in this fashion.

Let me know if you change your mind, these are now a stocking item.

Hey guys,
A bit late to what is another very interesting thread with multiple options, input and prices by all.

James is spot on with not tearing into a rash decision, as replacing h/lights is something you only want to do once.

I've thought a few times now that my one biggest issue is the fact that I have the rather large orange lenses which I would dearly love to replace and whilst at it why not throw in some A/eyes (like mtX5 [Moh's]). Then after thinking and reading about it along with seeing the end results of other members efforts, I've thought well if I'm going down this road then why not go 'full tilt' and give it the works, which is where I will end up going.

For mine, there is no comparison when seeing a set of HID's coming down the road towards you whether up close or a mile or more away. I mean they look absolutely sensational with that ultra piercing white dazzle (along with other spectrum colours) of pure, high powered, streaming light as opposed to the ho hum of a halogen bulb. So yeah, when I do my upgrade it will definately include installation of HID's.
Sorry Jurrian, I don't agree with your statement of simply replacing a 'high beam bulb with a xenon color matched bulb', JMI of course.

I'd like to ask 'bmwbmwfan' if you have a dash light switch similar to mine or is it the same as our brotheres in the US? Pic below of mine, which I believe is the euro version plus stock halogen/amber lens blinkers.
FWIW, my h/lights also move up n down (automatically) when I first turn them on, after that they are moveable manually via the sw. wheel with numbering.

One last Q, can somebody explain why my front fog lights have a definitive cut off line like an HID light ?? I'm sure they are only halogen, am I right ??

Thanks for reading guys

That setup is much different than the ones we have in the USA, X Foomph. With self leveling already installed on those cars, it would surely make it much easier to do a xenon retrofit.

If you guys want a HID high beam light, then you might need to go with a 100% custom setup much like what Lightwerkz and chefwong created for chefwong's X5. Still, I don't see a reason why you would need HID high beam bulbs unless you drive around with them all the time. It isn't that good to "flash" a HID bulb, as the turning on and turning off of a ballast so quickly puts tremendous stress on the ballast.

I'm not sure about the fog lights. It could be that they also have cutoffs as they too can blind oncoming drivers when not setup properly.
