Unless you have a very good relationship with the SA, you can't have them do anything unless something is broken. BMW does not allow "investigative" maintenance, meaning a tech just looks around for problems when nothing has appeared broken.
You could always pay an independent shop to do a once over to look for problems and report any.

I don't know about others but if you are not going
to be fully covered then the most practical thing to do is save your money. Having the dealer do anything imo may be inviting a long list of "you need this done, you need that done" Remember it's in BMW's interest to keep your vehicle running as close to factory specs as possible. Therefore any part that is out out of tolerance with those specs is fair game in their opinion to be replaced. As Wagner said "You could always pay an independent shop to do a once over to look for problems and report any". But here again it's a good thing to have built up a relationship with said shop before having them look and report. Sometime BMW has these free clinics where they give your ride to once over for free. I use those opportunities to let them see what they can find. Then I go to my indy, have them do the inspection (but I don't show them the dealer report) I then I compare the 2 reports.

i think you have that backwards, you have 6 months of the factory warranty, and then after that, the CPO warranty is active, in which there is a $50 dedutable per visit where a covered component is repaired.
Things to check/replace during the factory warranty period. 1) Tension Strut Bushings, if never been performed, complaint would be clunking when braking. 2) Check all Grab Handles inside the vehicle for pealing. 3) Check all woodtrim for cracks 4) Check CD/Player, Navigation System, Speakers 5) Check Seat Belt Labels for cracks 6) Check all Interior Covers, A-B-C-D pillars for cover material pealing off 7) Check battery( if original, just complain that you had to jump start the car a couple of times ) 8) Check all non-xenon bulbs for proper operation 9) Check Coolant upper and lower radiator hoses for leaks. 10) Check seat leather stitching for looseness. 11) Check Steering Wheel Airbag Emblem for etching. 12) Check Hood Roundel for flaking. All these items are sometimes not covered under CPO. |

Daka, you will need extended maintenence if you so desire as oil changes and other maintenence will not be covered under CPO warranty.
Check this thread for extended warranty pricing. |
