Thanks for the tip. And I also want to thank Mrbmwx5 for his help also. I think I'm going to cut the elbow and get a new one and this time put the clamps the right way! lol. Maybe I'm the first girl to to tackle this job!

Next I have to find out how to change the thermostat! I don't know how to take off the fan blade to gain access to the thermostat!!

Problem is the winterized OS will also fail, just takes a few more degrees. Mine went twice but you don't have to change all that stuff if it only froze shut. Read my other post. The new x5 is designed with built in pressure valves in the top of the valve cover. Better design.

If it fails due to condensation in the OS this will cause all the smoke but when it thaws out it will work fine. Dealer will just change everything because they don't want to take the time or chance to really figure it out.

Set of profile gaskets 11129070990
Set of profile gaskets 11120030496
BTW you just need to remove three toxt screws ( T20) to get the fan blade out to get to the T-Stat

Thanks for the part number. wow. i just saw those screws. with that limited amount of space you think i can get to it? I saw on youtube this guy used a long wrench at the nut behind the fan blade and gave it a hard knock to the right with a hammer to get that nut loose. the fan shroud is in the way i manage to take the push in clips off but I think I have to take the fan blade off first then the shroud right?

What you saw on youtube is the way to do it but it's for if you doing the water pump too that require specail tool.
You going to do just the T-Stat you just take off three toxt screws right behide the fan facing the engine....you have to take the fan blade off first then the shroud.

Yes, especially if you are planning on re-using th coolant. There is a plastic drain plug under the radiator on the drivers side.
