Our 2003 has been fine without any problems even when parked outside in freezing temperatures. Our 2010 X5 on the other hand... well, it's at Morristown BMW being fixed...again.

My X5 and I got off to a bad start, with multiple sensors/etc. going bad and needing attention in the first couple of months of my ownership that started when she had 42k miles on her, which were thankfully covered under orig 4/50 warranty, but overall my 05 3.0i has been running flawlessly over the last year... I have put on about 18k miles on it (just passed 60k) and am very satisfied with it overall. Even the slight leak from the roof has gone away on its own!

I keep thinking of replacing it with a 4.4i for added power, but then again I keep thinking that any other X5 may not be as problem free as this thing seems to be now.

I love this car, and even like it more when I compare prices of 05-06 E53 with 07-08 E70 models! Bargain pricing if you ask me.

..Too funny all it took was 12 post before people
started complaining. So much for trying to promote
"I had absolutely no trouble with my X5 today"

I think any one who winges about owning an X5 should be made to drive a korean import for 12 months ,
I have the luck of driving a very average one ton work ute around on week days so I really appreciate my X when the weekend comes around

Just done Harare - Johannesburg - Harare - Lilongwe (Malawi) - Harare over the holidays. 2,200 miles in hot (car temp hit 106F!) African conditions, some of it on pot holed roads and dirt tracks, and the X5 3.0D (German assembled) never hesitated once...

Can't say that I'm enjoying my X5 at the moment.
On the other hand, I'm luv'n my old E38. 10x
better built than the E53.

Mine was perfectly behaved this week. If it misbehaves, I am calling Quicksilver to slap it into shape.

06' 3.0 with nothing but rave reviews and smiles here in NJ. Latest romp was a 150 miles up to Shawnee and my main reason for going was to get a good winter drive in the X.
The mountain was nice too...basically I just love driving the X5.

A actually enjoy my commute!

This thread is great too.

We've been down to minus 16 Celsius here. Which is 3.2 Fahrenheit. Reports of it hitting -20C last night (-4F). Hasn't actually been above freezing at home for over three weeks now (even during the day). Doesn't help that my home heating system crapped out at the weekend! We have about 12 inches of snow up to about 24 inches where it has drifted. Much deeper in the mountains - apparently the skiing is excellent, although there are avalanche warnings.

Coldest it has been in UK in recent years is -27.2C (-17F).
