Hey Man,
Haven't used him yet, but looking forward to once we're out of warranty on our E46 M3. Mr. MCar in NJ is supposed to be among the best. Maybe give him a call and see if he can reccomend someone for our X5's. Also check the regional posts for local NJ people and or BMWCCA for local info. If you want to 'fly,' you gonna have to bring it to the airport! MrMCar @ the Monmouth Airport, NJ. PS - Let me know who you find, as I'm close to your location as well. I've got a few garages that I can trust with my car but niether are BMW or Euro specialists. Sometimes honesty is worth $$$$$$$ |

Ok so this indy is not in NJ but just outside Philly.
I used them when I had my Range Rover and will continue to use them when my warranty runs out on my new to me X5. They are really knowledgeable and easy to work with, no BS Frank (owner/operator) is a nice guy trying to make an HONEST living. most likely the valve cover gasket is your problem. common issue for v8. it's pretty time consuming job on V8 engine due to confined space. based on the area you listed, you can pay a visit to sean's shop(eurosport in westfield). he was former jmk bmw tech. check this link. BMW Repair by Eurosport of Westfield in Westfield, NJ | Bimmershops.com
I haven't had any works done there but I talked to him couple times. he knows his stuff. I also heard good thing about bimmerclinics but they're a bit further(elizabeth) than where you're. if you want diy, I can probably lend you a hand if I have time. |

Well I called Eurosport in Westfield. Eurosport of Westfield - Mini,Saab,Volvo,VW,Volkswagen,BMW,Audi, Car Repair, Westfield, NJ
They are all ex-BMW dealership guys. They get $85 and hour which is much better than my dealerships $130 and hour. Talked tot hem on the phone and made an appointment... seem real nice and "Proprietor Sean Dougherty was a top tech at a BMW dealership for fourteen years. He has been factory trained in Porsche and BMW's. He has been from 2004-Present, the head tech for car #803 BMW M3 for the Targa Newfoundland rally race. Also he was Crew Chief of the 1989-1990 IMSA BMW M3 Racing Series." Sounds good to me! While I would keep trying to work on the X myself I just don't have the time and the future addition to our household could be here any day now! Gonna get real busy real fast! Thank you guys for the help and I will keep u posted on what the issue was.... |

I usually go up to Bell BMW in Newton. I have a good friend who works there. They are a great dealership and have done a lot of work on mt X but I just needed to find a more cost effective shop.
No estimate given. Not sure exactly what the problem is. I will let you guys know what I think of the shop's work.... |
