Anyone's Xenon’s flashing intermittently?

Has anyone experienced their xenon headlights flashing intermittently and independent of each other?
This happens when switch is in the auto position and when manually switched on. Does not affect the center two daytime/High beam lights.
No error message appears on the dash.
I brought it to the dealer on four separate occasions for this problem.
Each time they haven't been able to duplicate the problem.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

It was really cold (20-30 ?F)the other day in my mom's X5, and the left light was slightly flickering. After the car heated up the flickering stopped. This flickering really was not noticeable at all (noticed it because of the light on the garage door). You'd have to look really hard to notice it.

On another note, in the same cold weather, the 330Cic we have had a little trouble from disengaging the right hi-beam. It would lag after the left headlight (the left headlight would go from hi-beam to low beam, with the right headlamp following around 1 second later)...

Point I am trying to make is, cold weather does funny things to xenon headlights...

Yes, if I manually turn the switch from auto to on.
Day or Night.

Cold weather hasn't been a factor. I live in Florida; the coldest it's been is 35c. Lights actually turn off and back on really quickly.

WagnerX5 / XX3,
Thanks for the feedback.

Anyone else have an idea?

The Xenon's also flash on and off independently every morning when I pull into the parking garage at my office. As I enter the dimly lit garage the Xenon's kick on as they should but flash. I first thought this was due to the low hanging garage lights making the auto sensor go crazy.
It's certainly driving me CRAZY

You could have a faulty ballast. There was a TSB about some faulty ballast released in 2004 BMWs....I had Xenon flickering with my '04 M3 and finally it would flicker out and then give you an error message. Under their TSB and warranty, both sets of Xenon light bulbs and ballast were replaced with an upgraded unit and no problems so far. Interestingly enough, with over 130K miles and 5 years of ownership, the Xenons are doing fine on the X5!

Thanks Kewl X5,
I'm dropping off my X5 at the dealer tomorrow morning. 5th time
I'll double check that they tested the ballasts.

On a different note, I think your thread regarding the intake adjuster could be the answer to my whistling noise. I'll have the dealer replace it and let you know the result.

my '03 has had this happen a couple of times.
i never had it checked because, personally, i think
they'd just come back and tell me that they couldn't
find the problem.i don't use the Automatic
feature. i always turn the headlights on manually.
good luck.

Thanks,
Once the dealer fixes the problem, I'll post the fix.
Am I hopelessly optimistic?
