X5Happy's bad idle/vibration is going to most likely be the PS pump as the dealership suggested since I was able to hear the whining as he pulled into the garage. We never got the chance to read codes or smoke maching his engine, but if the wild chance the PS replacement doesn't work, then we'll go from there.

vibration idle

Hi guys ....I do have a 4.6is 2002 and also has an idle vibration when stopped, whether in neutral or drive.I dont feel it when the engine is cold but when gets warm every stop or even if it is in park and give it gas up to 3000-4000 rpm and then let it come back to idle the rpm deeps in and I can feel the engine almost dying ...then comes back ...no vibration.I took the car to shop they found some hose craked $330 but when I got home ..I felt it again. It's been a year now ..Can u guys give me info ,did u had the same problem? thx

I have a '06 3.0i with 12,000miles. I'm not sure if its the same problem as you guys but when idling at a light I can noticeably feel my steering wheel vibrate. It feels like the engine idle is surging back and forth but the rpm needle doesn't move at all. Am I being paranoid or is it a problem?

Please help

Hey guys any updates on this issue

I have a 2002 with the same issue only when it's cold

When I put it in reverse it vibrates and the rpms go down and it stalls

Start it back up and its fine

Only does it in reverse

I have replaced the idle control, pCV, oil seperator, crankcase valve

Thanks

Smile Rough Idling - solved

Hi guys! I am a new owner of 2000 X5 4.4i E53 here in Qatar. I got my car last October10. I have been looking in this forum and it helped me alot. Thanks to all members.

I would like to share my experience on my previous rough idling problem during cold starts, and hope that this could help someone with same case

1) I cleaned the throttle using carb cleaner and tissue paper. I replaced the part #2 o-ring seen below

2) I cleaned the MAP with carb cleaner spray.
(blow dried the MAP using hair dryer before placing back)

3) Replace item 11 (see below - as advised by my friend at BMW service center, this part usually causes major leak resulting to rough idling)

4) Placed screw clamp on the small vacum hose attached at bottom side of part 12 above. (hose at end is already loose)
