I think you guys have gotten confused between the carbon fiber vinyl that mrbmwx5 used and the carbon fiber fabric that was brought up.

What mrbmwx5 used is 3M DI-NOC CA-421 which is a very high quality, textured vinyl. This vinyl has no gloss to it and is matte, with a very nice type of adhesive that is very forgiving when you mess up. The only downside is the cost of it.

Carbon fiber fabric has been around longer than the 3M vinyl and looks similar to the 3M vinyl besides having an adhesive. The vinyl will probably stretch better than the fabric for tight bends, but with enough patience, a fabric install will seem fine. The adhesive people use for the fabric is usually 3M Super 77, a spray glue. If in the US, I would buy from here. CARBON FIBER FABRIC 55" X 36" INTERIOR TRIM WRAP FABRIC:eBay Motors (item 320471506298 end time Feb-05-10 10:42:14 PST)

This type of vinyl is very easy to use....like Minzguy said it's forgiving if you mess up it can be reused with enough patience.
just cut the sheet to about 1 inche wider then the trim then using the heat gun or hair dry to head it up then bend / fold the edges .If you get an air bubbles just seemly heat it up and pill the vinyl up the work your way around the vinyl then push the pubbles out.

Looks great, never thought about that. All you had to do was apply an adhesive,or does the CF have it pre-applied?

Thanks looks awesome just viewing the pics from my phone. Goodjob! I painted all the wood trim in my 7 to a brushed aluminum look that is a dead match to the door handles in our X's, but I like the CF look better. Once again, good job!

Looks great!

Gives me an idea. Does a gloss black vinyl covering exist?

Beige interior with piano lack trim?

You still need to rewrap your guages next to the shifter instead of that black leather wrapping or whatever is on there.
