Ok. Still looks more yellow then other X5's though. I wonder if it's just cause the bulb is new and fades to a higher heat range after awhile, like 4500-5000K....

When the bulb is new its more yellow. As it gets older it will color shift. This is normal.

I have tried lots, Get the Original Osyram Philips 4300k bulb. Do whatever you want for the fog lights but dont sacrifice any light output for color.

Always remember, Function<Appearance

I think he means Function > Appearance Right? but all in all Not poking fun at anyone. And i use 6k and there bright compared to my old halogens and are just pretty to stare at Form and Function, love the outcome. Dont forget to re level the headlights as well, which will help with the glare.

Yeah, Lol thats what I meant. I would stick to 5000k or less, brighter the better.

Since you don't like the color of the 4200k, but you can see the brightness differences of the 6000k, sounds like you should replace both and get 5000k for the happy medium. www.ddmtuning.com (lifetime warranty, ballasts and shipping extra)and www.hidextra.com (2yr warranty, free ballasts(make sure to ask for them at checkout), free shipping w/ coupon code "besthid-m") seems to have the best prices.

I also had my right headlight replaced through insurance after an accident. The new Philips 4300K bulb they put in no longer matched the other bulb which was seven years old and already color shifted closer to 6000k I would say. The OEM bulb BMW uses is the Philips D2S 85122 bulb. Philips also makes the 85122+ bulb which doesn't color shift and remains at 4300k. I wanted both headlights to match so I ordered another bulb from this EBAY seller
*NEW* PHILIPS OEM 4300K D2S HID XENON BULB 85122 : eBay Motors (item 250566707878 end time Jan-27-10 17:31:46 PST)
I can vouch for him. I received my bulb in good condition and new for a very good price.

Problem was that my other headlight had clouded over. I used the 3M kit to restore it and it got relatively close to how clear my new headlight is. Still, you can see a slight difference in color, probably due to the older plastic in the projector of the old headlight which has deteriorated slightly over the years.

If you want a slightly more blueish tint to your HIDs I would suggest Philips Crystalvision bulbs that are 5000K. PHILIPS CRYSTALVISION 5000K D2S / D2R XENON HID BULBS : eBay Motors (item 250570457842 end time Feb-02-10 22:48:44 PST)

Don't go with the generic (cheap) brands that places like DDM sell. My experience with those is that they burn out in less than a year (around 9 months for me). My Philips bulbs on the other hand lasted 7 years and probably still had considerable life in them.

DDM's stuff has a lifetime warranty, so why pay literally 4-5x as much? DDM has been around since I first got my M5 back in like 99, and I've yet to hear of their stuff going out in 9 months. Touching the actual bulb is what causes premature failure, and I'm pretty sure that they would be offering lifetime warranties unless they knew the stuff was good...it'd be expensive and a bad business model to be replacing bulbs every 9 months. Just my .02.
