Exhaust tip placement

Okay, perhaps I'm a bit too anal to think my exhaust tips should be precisely in the middle of the back openings. But they're both semi-snug against the top and/or the side of each. (no, I don't have pics yet). I've got the Supersprint exhaust, which has 2 sets of dual tips which are rather large. I'd like to get them in the center so that I can wash and wax around them without too much effort. But my question is this; is there a way to adjust them via the hangers in order to better center them? Or would it be better to just remove the plastic trim piece (I believe they're some sort of heat shield, so perhaps this would be a bad idea). I was also considering having the dual tips cut off and OEM (or similar) ovals welded on in place. Or just remove the Supersprint mufflers entirely....

Thoughts?
