new x5 owner with pulley questions...

Hi all,

I can't even tell you how helpful this website has been for our x5. I have been searching for info on a noisy (i think) idler pulley . Is there any need for me to buy a new tensioner assembly as well? RealOEM.com Diagram Selection . Our X5 is an '03 3.0i Sport. I'm having a hell of a time getting the fan/clutch assembly off, and ended up breaking a fin off of the fan, so i'm ordering one of those too (unless it's safe to run it with one fin missing, but I'm assuming it isn't). Any tips to get it off easier? The RealOEM site shows three belts, is this accurate? I can't see in there yet. It looks as if the top two on the above link have the same narrative "BELT DRIVE WATER PUMP/ALTERNATOR" but obviously are different diagrams. Oh yea, since i'm new to the RealOEM website, and not sure how many idler pulleys there are, do i need more than one?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions you all might have for me.
