So far, I have tried the "unplug the TCU" and "pull & replace the fuses" tricks, without positive result. Perhaps tomorrow morning I will try the "disconnect battery" trick. If none of these things fix my problem, I will likely have to buy a new TCU from the dealer.

There are three fuses for the NAV and phone in the back right corner of the trunk. With the X5 off, take the fuses out. Start the X5. Nothing will come up on the NAV screen. Turn it off. Put the fuses back it. When you start it again it you will have your phone back. You will need to do this whenever you lose the phone. May be a little pain, but it's a lot better than getting a new phone or TCU. Good luck.
I have an X5M with phone issues. I'm not sure which fuses I need to unplug. There are 2 listed as phone in the trunk. Under the glovebox (a real pain to get to) there is one (listed as #3) which I took to relate to Bluetooth. But I didn't find any related to the Nav sysem. Any ideas which fuses I need to take out??

same thing happened to mine and when I removed/replaced the fuse, the tcu wouldn't turn off and it would drain my battery.

Can't remember exactly which three, but they are there and it did work. Try looking in the manual that's how I did it. It's confusing because I didn't get it the first time either. It's my wife's car so I don't have it right now. I think phone is the same for bluetooth and radio same as nav. Just play around and follow how the previous post explains it.

The manual doesn't explain the fuses. Their is a pictogram with the fuses, but only 2 relate to the phone. Not sure which ones go to NAV, or bluetooth for that matter. Any ideas??
