Brought my X5 to another BMW shop to get a second opinion. They ran the GT-1 computer scan and found left rear side air suspension collapsed after an overnight stay at the shop. They checked air suspension parts and made some adjustments and cleaned sensors using GT-1 computer reset.... Now I am hoping this will solve the problem....still under observation if air suspension will sag overnight again..will keep you guys updated again...

You stated that the rear raises back up when you open the door, so that tells me the compressor is working, so why replace. This sounds like a leaking air spring, I had the same issue you describe and the issue was fixed by replacing the leaking air spring in the rear. The only issue I am having now is the height is a little off left to right, the side I replaced the air spring is a little lower than the OG air spring. Maybe the OG air spring stretched over time or something.

Changing the rear air spring is cake as long as you can use a jack and wrench. There is a DIY here on the forum.

No, its called your air strut is leaking. There is no reset that I know of.

Yes, but JT///MC is referring to socalkev's point about the car settling overnight- it should not do that. Recalibration will not fix it, there's a leak somewhere.

Just got the latest update of my rear air suspension problem. Finally indy shop concluded I need to change only my left rear air shock since this the side that is sagging overnight. It will cost me about USD400.00 parts and labor.... I am just thinking if I should change both air shocks or just one. It might come out uneven heights if one is new and the other is old. Can I get some comments from our expert E53 gurus....

At your mileage, if one goes, one will most likely follow shortly. They're cheap enough, have both rear air springs changed.
