Missing GPS
My display monitor menu does not list GPS. It's got the others like Television, Telephone etc., but the GPS-navigation item is missing. The CD box in the boot is working. Green light displayed, will eject and accept the CD and makes the normal scanning sounds. I know that the CD changer cable was cut by a previous owner for some reason. I have ordered a new one from BMW. I'm wondering if the GPS unit somehow relies on that cable to get its data up to the monitor as well ? Other than that, any idea anyone ? Thanks. |

I can only guess why the CD changer wire was cut, they probably installed a DICE unit (which i would suggest you do also, instead of re attaching the CD changer) and i doubt that the wire does the same..
sorry i cant be of any real help, i know someone on this forum knows..

Been looking into these DICE units ... seems like a much better option than the CD changer. When you say you doubt the wire does the same, do you mean that the CD changer wire cannot be used for the DICE unit ? If so, is it a matter of running a new cable from the back to the front of the car ? |
