Just another example of why they're called "stealerships"
I thought it may have been the intermediate levers. SA calls me and says it's a malfunctioning MAF sensor, but no CEL. Says total to repair/replace the MAF sensor is $883 + tax. ![]() I told him to call the extended warranty co. to have it replaced through them. It shouldn't be a problem with the ext. warranty co... let them get ripped off by the stealership. ![]() I wonder how the $883 is broken down? $150 for the part, $20 for 10 mins worth of work...and the rest?

![]() dealer MAF is about $400-450, + 1 hour for diagnos and labor + their building is sitting on 3 acres = $$$

Dealer buys MAF's from Bosch and marks them up. We can buy MAF's from Bosch from discount online suppliers. I buy nothing from the stealerships unless I have to. Good thing you've got an extended warranty.

Absolutely you should only be going to the dealerships as a final resort, when you have completely exhausted all other options.

Actually it's fun to watch them duke it out like "Alien" vs "Predator"

![]() $250 for OEM Bosch from RM European. Still far from $400-$450... I think it's more like the 3 acres.

They also gotta pay for the coffee, doughnuts, and bottled water you drank during that hour of labor. And the carwash.

how do you know they buy parts directly from BOSCH? |

Directly, through a sales guy who supplies you, etc. My point is, the dealership charges more than anyone else for anything, from little nitpicky parts to the larger stuff. What's your point?
