Indie shops in DFW area

Hello,

I recently moved to DFW area. Does any one has recomendations for an independent shop around this place. Its time to get my oil change + few minor works to be done on my 04 4.4 X5. Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks

www.e38.org is a forum for 95-01 7 series owners, but we share the same engine. There is a list of indy shops on there, along w/ other useful information in case you decide to start repairing things yourself.

Welcome to the METRO!
Zims in Bedford. They are very knowledgeable on German cars and reasonably priced. They are right next door to Park Place Mercedes off of the 183 and Industrial Before I moved to Grapevine I would drive from Plano for good piece of mind..

Good luck

Welcome to DFW. Which side are you on? If you're in the mid-cities area, I used BMS (Bavarian Motor Sports) in Watauga for years on my e34 and e36. Haven't taken my e53 there yet since I've had warranty. Others on this side that I've bought parts from are Import Car Center in Grapevine and Loeffler's in NRH, not sure about service at either. If you're on the east side I've heard good things about Autoscope in Plano. If you're a BMWCCA member be sure to join the Lone Star Chapter and check out the website/forums for more detail on area services.

I've used Tims German Auto in Fort Worth. They've done a great job on my 4.4 and an Audi A4 I've owned previously. Their prices are great too.

To each their own, but being a member of the BMWCCA out of Seattle didn't really gain me aby benefits on parts pricing, etc vs what we can buy the stuff for at online stores. About the only cool benefit is that I got a subscription to Zundfolge and there we're pics of me at Bremerton Raceways during a racing school I took in my M5 against a Viper...needless to say, I didn't win.

I'm sorry if I made it sound like it helped get discounts. I only meant for information on local shops, since some of those people have had Bimmers in our area for years.

I agree, they're are lots of ads for shops in the back of the magazine. For me though, I'd trust the opinions of people here vs someone who pays to have an ad in the magazine, meaning paying for that ad is worked into what they have to charge as well. I used 3 of the big name, ad paying guys in Seattle and literally got screwed each time over 5-6yrs when things sometimes got above my head, I needed a vehicle lift, etc...and I work on BMW's. I know it's the bitter taste in my mouth, but I just don't trust most shops anymore, so referrals mean more to me than someone who pays for ad space.

Strictly BMW in Bellevue, WA has a racing team, which is a VERY expensive hobby/sport...guess who's paying for their fun and their 5+ track cars on the weekends? I'm not against profit, that would make me a hypocrit, but I'm far from charging what they charge, and I've figured out $200 fixes that they wanted $5000 for, and they're solution wasn't even close to what ended up being my problem. Between the BMW trained techs, and home taught BMW mechanics like myself and a handful of others on here, Xoutpost and forums like it have become invaluable.
