HELP ! With X5 Tow Bar Instalation ?
Does anyone know where the 15 pin White box plugs in in an X5 when a tow bar is fitted with a plug and play loom ?
The box in question is a white/grey box the size of a cigarette box and is coded with BMW Siemens VDO 61.35-6 955 253 I believe it is something to do with controling air suspension, rear parking sensors etc When towing... Any help guys !!!!!! Regards Chris |

That unit gets mounted down in the electronics area that is right behind the battery. You need to remove the spare tire and the air suspension pump (or the dome shaped cover if you don't have air suspension). You will see the battery and right behind it is a plastic cover with the letters "BMW" on it. There are several phillips head screws that you will need to remove to get this plastic cover out.
Once you have the plastic cover removed you will see an electronics tray. That's going to need to be removed in order to install the module you have. There are 4 screws holding it in, and one is not easy to get to. The one on the right rear doesn't have to be taken out, just loosen it and the carrier can slide out by pulling up the left side first. Once the electronics tray is out you should be able to see where this unit goes. See the pic below for reference
