Intermittent Wiper Intermittent?

The intermittent wiper setting on my 02 X5 only works sometimes. The wiper comes on but wipes at a steady rate, like at the first constant on setting.

Is there anything I can check or what might the fix be?

Thank you.

there is no such option as intermittant wiping on x5's produced from 9/02 production with option Rain Light Sensor. If the rain sensor is malfunctioning, you will have intermittant wiping.

Sorry! Typo on my part. I have a 2001 X5 4.4. The wiper stalk has a thumbwheel control which I assume is to control the interval rate of the intermittent function.

Thanks.

If you don't have the rain sensor, the dial button adjusts the interval between the wipes.
If you have the rain sensors, the dial button will adjust the sensitivity of teh sensor. the higher you go, the more it will "see" small droplets like the ones the car in front of you throws at you for example... There are many threads about the topic...
