4.8is Air suspension problem... maybe leak? Please help!

It is my understanding that you need to depressurinzing the air strut before removing the strut for replacement. How does one go about depressurinzing the air strut? Unfortunately the arnott site doesn't have any instructions on the x5.

Exactly what is happening to me now. Front PASSENGER side is low. Dealer already replaced ride height sensor ($87), almost talked me into replacing Control Module ($800 plus labor). Glad I checked with you guys. So, sounds like Arnott is the way to go. Are they the only game in town? Just curious if there are any other manufacturers? I guess if their struts are better than OEM......

Arnott is basically the only guys remanufacturing the air struts for our X5's. They are using Continental (as in the tires) rubber for the air bags on remaned OEM air struts. They are good quality and are a better alternative in my opinion to the OEM BMW ones. Many of us have used them and are having no problem. You cant beat the price!!

Did you end up installing it yourself ? It its there a good reasonable shop in the Los Angeles area that can install for me?

I got the Arnott struts complete with new air springs and installed them myself in a couple of hours in my garage. If you are handy with tools, it's a fairly easy job. Otherwise, any competent suspension shop should be able to do it. It shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 hours and no other parts need to be replaced other than the struts and spring bags (unless you have something else that's broken).

Evening all (it is here anyway!),

I need to replace a leaking front left air shock. My question is... should I buy just the air spring or should I get the complete strut? The complete unit not only costs more, but I'd also need to return the original at my own cost (Dubai to USA would be over $100 extra). I've been quoted $120 for delivery of a single air shock to Dubai.

What do you recommend?
