Angel Eyes help on a 2001
Here's the situation, I bought a set of angel eyes on ebay and it's been sitting in my house for more than 3 weeks now. I'm really have a hard time installing these guys. I've read the Headlight removal page.. and the Angel eyes tips and tricks.. and i'm still not able to remove the assembly. Here's what i've done so far... removed the top 2 screws, the rubber pad, bottom tab below the headlights.. so i see the 2 screws under.. and not quite able to reach it.. so i gotta purchase more tools later.. so i have a few questions.. - There's 4 wires attached to the unit, one for the signal.. 2 for the xenons, and one for the high beam. i was able to remove the signal and high beam ones, how do i remove the xenon wires? - I came across to a page where it says its necessary to make the bumper loose to remove the whole headlight unit, is this necessary? cause it seems like there's tons of screws for the bumper. -Baking or heat gunning the unit, do i do this to the silicone that's inbetween the cover and the rest of the body? or can i use a knife to cut out the silicone? - Wiring, where can i connect these wires to? Thanks for reading , any help would be appreciated! I asked a garage for installation fees.. they say it'll cost more than the product itself.. So i'm just trying to DIM! Thanks again! steve |

I numbered your questions and will do my best to answer them below. 1. The wiring should just unplug from the socket. There's a little tab that locks it in place that you need to lift up in order to disengage it. 2. If you don't have the front headlight washers then you don't need to loosen the bumper. If you do have the headlight washers, as I do, I found it easier to take the bumper loose in order to get the headlight units out without damaging things. Others have said that they have gotten them out without loosening the bumper. It's your call. 3. You are trying to get the clear lens separated from the black housing. So whatever existing silicone you can remove prior to heating, all the better. 4. You can just keep it simple and hook it up to a toggle switch, or you can get fancy like I did and get the euro headlight switch to get the OEM look. My advice is go the simple route first and get them working. Then you can decide how you want them long-term.
