Is 4.8 muffler more free flowing?

Are the 4.8is mufflers more free flowing? Maybe a dumb question but still curious. I prefer the black out look of the 4.4 mufflers with quad tips. Thinking about 4.4 mufflers with an xpipe on my 4.8is. Any thoughts?

Very good question?Unless one opens the mufflers to check the insides,it will be difficult to tell?I had this dilema when I decided to fit the 4.8is mufflers on my x5!
In your case ,if your thinking of fitting the 4.4 mufflers on your 4.8is,you need to confirm the actual exhaust pipe diameter?I know the 4.8is has 63mm diameter and I believe the 4.4 is inferior! So ,irrespective of whether or not the 4.8is have more flow,if you fit a smaller diameter pipe ..it will be a restriction...

People make such mistakes for the sake of car looking "cool"! 4.4 exhaust thrust is not the same as 4.8 actually I would say if it was between 4.6 and 4.8 maybe better as the two differ by only 3 Horse Power. The exhaust gases/pressure is well calculated according to the engine size going 4.8 to 4.4 is really reducing the @ss of your car... do it and come tomorrow and tell us how constipated your car is!...

The change is cosmetic! Gat nothing to do with engine power gain.
